OBITUARY.
MR ROBERT JOSEPH TERRY. The death of Mr Robert Joseph Terry, on May 22, as the result ot an accident at the Palmerston North Railway Station, removed one who had been a resident of the city for the past ten years and who was well-known in Shannon, where lie spent his early manhood and resided for some years after the Groat War. Mr Terry, who was a member of the National Military Reserve, was retiring by nature and found his greatest interests in his home and his garden, although, having been 'a Rugby player in his earlier days, lie maintained his connection with the game as a spectator, the more so as ho had sons playing. The late Mr Terry, who -was 45 years of ago, attended the Campbell istreet School, having been born i.n Palmerston North, and while ho was .still a boy his parents, Mr and Mrs R. j Terry, of 101 Savage Crescent, removed to Shannon. Mr Terry worked in and about Shannon until the Great I War, during which he was two years lon active service. He was badlv gassed, although he recovered from this, and was also wounded. On his return to New Zealand he took up his residence ■in Shannon and there married Miss Christina Thelma Bildcrbeck, of Shannon. They resided there for some time and then came to Palmerston North. Mr Terry soon afterwards entering the .service of the Railway Department and remaining in it until his death. For several years while in Shannon Mr Terry was captain of the Shannon junior Rugby team, playing in the Horowhonua competitions. Last November Mr Terry joined the National Military Reserve and was a popular member of the Palmerston North unit. At his funeral members of the reserve were on parade, and when the cortege passed the artillery barracks in Main Street the guard from the battery camp stood at attention as a mnrk of respect to one who had played his part in the last war and was doing his share in this. The late Mr Terry and Mrs Terry had a family of four "sons and two daughters, a I of whom are now grown up. One snn is a member of the Royal Now Zealand Air Force and another a member of a coastal battery, near Wellington. There are left, in addition, one brother. Mr W. G. Terry, of Palmerston North, and two sisters, Mesdames W. Easton (Shannon) and C Coyle (Wellington).
