OF THE WEEK. The heavy raid on London and thq astonishing flight of Rudolph Hess to Britain are the highlights of the week’s events, while the developments in Syria also claim much attention. The diary is ns follows: Alay 10.—Nazi ports. Hamburg and Bremen. suffer heavily in R.A.F. raids. IT.AI.S. Cornwall sinks raider in Indian Ocean. Alay 11.--London suffers worst raid of war; great damage to historic buildings. Record number ol night bombers shot down. R.A.F. again causes liavoe at Hamburg and Bremen, also aerodromes in Sicily. Alav 12.—Downing Street reveals sensational flight of Rudolph Hess. depnty-Leader of the Nazi Party, from Germany to Britain. Hamburg and Bremen again blasted. H.M.S. Leander and Canberra intercept enemy supply ship and raptured Norwegian ship in Indian Ocean. Alay 13.—Hess episode creates world sensation and wholesale speculation as to reason for it: facts indicate escape from Nazi regime and split in party. Rhineland towns raided by R.A.F. May 14.—Situation at Tobruk and Solium improves. Mediterranean Fleet drives off enemy bombers in big battle when escorting convoy. YUchy Government accepts Nazi demands. May 15. —Nazi plaiies use Syrian airfields in rendering help to Iraq rebels; Britain to take stern action. Alav IG.—British retake Solium. R.A.F. attacks Nazi planes on Syrian airfields. Hanover and Berlin raided.
