Alarsdeu, head ot the Department ot Scientific and Industrial Research, returned to-day. He said ho was greatly impressed with developments in the United States and much admired the efficiency and spirit of helpfulness. The possibilities arising from the newer developments in the radio and electrical industries were highly important. America had tremendous resources and an unlimited' capacify for the. mass production of technical gear..
America, now the economic and technical centre of world expansion, he said, was just beginning to become effective and encouraged a real hpi>e lor a. reasonably speedy decision n> the war. In Britain old barriers had gone. There was an earnestness everywhere to serve. Alany New Zealanders in both Brit ain and America, occupying important positions, were taking active parts in the war effort. They were a great team of workers and extremely well respected.
