Miss D. M. Holland, who has been principal of Woodford House, Havelock North, lor the past IV years, has retired. Mr and Mrs Malcolm Holmes, of Otaki, spent the early part of this week with Mrs Holmes's mother, Mrs David Millar, of "Park Nctik," Whakarongo. Friends of Sister Isabel MacKinnon, who left New Zealand with the First Echelon, will be pleased to hear that her sister. Mrs M. Scout, has received private cable advice that she is safe a.nd well.

The many friends of Nurse Kay Bowman, or Falmerston North, who lolt New Zealand for duty overseas with the Nursing Division, will be pleased to learn that her mother, Mrs JBo\vmun, of 417 Featherston Street, has received a cablegram stating she has been evacuated from Circece and is safe and well.

A. .Nash, candidate lor seats on the l'almerston North Hospital Board and the Manawat tt-Oroua Electric Power Board, to the illness ot Mrs Nash. All would very much regret, said Air Cubitt. the continued illness of Mrs Nash. She had always been very active in giving sympathetic help to women's and girls' organisations. Her sound, sympathetic advice had always been very much in demand and he hoped that she would soon bo taking her usual part in public affairs. Prior to his going overseas with the 2nd N.Z.E.F., Private M.. H. Dixon, eldest son of Mr and Airs C. A. P. Dixon, of Featherston Street, was entertained at a party by his grandmother, Airs A. Nash, of Margaret Street, who was assisted by her daughter, Miss N. Nash. Friends and relatives of Private Dixon were present to do honour to him. His health was proposed by Mr .1. A. Nash, who wished him' the best of good fortune. Private Dixon was the recipient of a presentation from Air A I{. McKegg. on behalf of the staff of Afessrs Williams, and McKegg, where he was employed before he joined the Dental Corps some 13 months ago."
