OBITUARY
MR R. H. STALLARD. The death occurred in Pahnerston North recently of an early pioneer in Mr Robert Hudson Stallard, of Featherston Street. The late Mr Stallard was born in Somerset, England, in 1802 and with his brother William arrived in Lyttelton in 1881. He resided there for a period, but later left to take up farming in the Manawatil district.
In Ilis early days Mr Stallard was a keen Rugby football player and was a Manawatil representative when such players as- Messrs Jackson, Robinson, Seeker, and MofFatt wcie in their prime.
Mr Stallard was always interested in farming activities and he was, till the time of his death, a director of the New Zealand Farmers' Dairy Union. He was also a past president of the Northern Bowling Club and until his health failed a keen exponent of the game.
In 188 GMr Stallard married Miss Emma Berqui.«t, who is left to mourn his passing. Mr Harold Stallard, of Feathorston Street, is a son. The late gentleman is also survived by three sisters in England.
