The annual meeting of (lie Table Flat Women's Institute was held on Ihursday afternoon. Miss Eliot presided and welcomed visitors from Kangiwahia, especially (Mrs 11. 11. Guthrie, a member of the Oroua Federation executive. Mr Pettigrew was appointed auditor. In moving the adoption of the report, which showed a year of worthy activities, Miss Eliot thanked the members of the commitf.ee for their loyal support and good work. Mrs li. Jensen presented the financial statement, which indicated a satisfactory position Mrs Guthrie congratulated t.h« institute on its work, which 'showed tho keeness and enthusiasm of its members The election of tlicors resulted: President, Miss R. A meeting of the library committee was held on Friday evening; when Mr J. R. Osborne presided. Mr K. Tambic was appointed librarian and secretary. It was decided to order from the Country Library Service a further 25 new hooks. The old books were looked over and Mrs McXntyro undertook to effect necessary repairs. There are on the shelves a number of books with which it is hoped that an exchange might be arranged with another country library. There was ai. excellent attendance of ladies of the district at a meeting called by the Pohangina County Council on Saturday afternoon-. Mr fc#. J. Strahan introduced Mr Buist, also Meodaines Seddon. Scott and A. C". McC'orkindale, all of Kei.ding, who had come to explain ttie work of the Jiincrgency Precautions Scheme with the hope or forming a committee in Apili, Mr Buisi, explained the main outline of the scheme, stating that he hoped the ladies would form a committee alter the lady visitors had explained details of the various activities which the scheme covered. Stanley was appointed to the chair and introduced Mrs X&cCorkindale, who spoke on the many details in connection with extending hospitality to evacuees, arrangements about housmg, and many other aspects ot this side ol the work. Mrs Scott dealt with the medical side of evacuation. To a call for assistance from any registered nurses who might be resident in the district, both luesdames N, J. Viles and E. A. Payton offered their services. The next speaker was Mrs Soddon, who spoke of the work of the Lady Galway Guild. Since Apiti had already sent im> many garments through the \\ omen's Institute and the Women s Division, she hoped that they would continue the good work in this way. Many questions were asked and the meeting finally decided to form an Emergency ' Precautions Scheme Committee, Mrs A. McMurtrie accepted omcc as chairman, and she then took the 1
