THE HOME GUARD.
SUPPLIES OF UNIFORMS. •Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, March The Minister of Defence (Hon. F. Jones) stated to-day that the clothing of New Zealand's Territorial Army in battle dress and the consequent issue of the present Territorial uniform to the Home Guard depended on the demands made on production by the forces overseas, and the outgoing reinforcements' for the overseas forces must bo the main consideration.
He could not say whether sufficient uniforms could be produced by the present manufacturing arrangements but, though it was probable a large number of suits of the old service dress could be brought back from overseas in reasonably good condition, the First and Second Echelons of the Second N.Z.E.F. had gone into drill uniforms in Egypt. When the colder weather came, the men had been issued with battle dress. Consequently, • their discarded uniforms at least should be suitable for Home Guard use.
Mr Jones said all the 6erge uniforms for the New Zealand Forces were being supplied from New Zealand, and it would be understood this meant a delay in the production •of the additional uniforms required before the Home Guard could be supplied with uniforms.
