The sub-inspector said Benson told the undertaker he had £SO, but no money with him, and asked for a loan of £1 to send telegrams to relatives. The undertaker made inquiries and declined the request. Benson was sentenced to two months' imprisonment with hard labour, and on a second charge of failing to make maintenance payments in favour of his four children was sentenced to three months' imprisonment.
