The American Consul in Japan, after visiting Formosa, denied that it was being fortified for use against the Philippines. "Sailor" Duffy and Tim Tracy were matched for a 15-round professional boxing bout in Palmerston North. A cablegram from Ottawa slated that Captain Bornier. who was seeking the north-west passage, was to assert British Sovereignty everywhere within the Mr ' Bertram McKennal, A.R.A., tho noted Australian sculptor, had been commissioned to design a memorial to King Edward, stated a message from London.
