MANAWATU LADIES CLUB Some 28 members of the Manawalu 'Ladies’ Golf Club played in a medal round for patriotic purposes yesterday. Following were the best cards:—Mrs H. C. Collinson. 84- —15—69 : Miss N. Smillie, 79 — 6—73; Mrs .T. Cliff. 82—6—75; Miss K. Garner, 93-17-76; Mrs 11. C. Hill, 97-21 —76; Mrs lan Mitchell, 112—36—76; Mrs T. H. Pullar, 96—19—77; Mrs C. 8. Williams, 114 —36—78; Mrs E. R. W'imsott, 91-12-79. There were three very good rounds, the best gross score being that of Miss N. Smillie, who was out in 41 and back in 38, to complete the round in 79 despite three putts on four greens. Her card read : 536365553 out; 4 53 4 5 5444 in—a net 73. Miss Smillie’s handicap has bqen reduced to 5. Mrs H. C. Collinson, a former holder of the New Zealand ladies’ title, 1 was round in 84 to win the medal handicap with a net 69. Her handicap has been reduced from 15 to 13. Mrs J. Cliff, holder of the Manawatu club championship, played sound golf to return a fine card of 82 gross. An L.G.U. silver and bronze medal competition will be played next Tuesday. Mrs Ingliss-Jones was elected a new member yesterday. PALMERSTON NORTH CLUB. Members of the Palmerston North Ladies’ Golf Club, A and B grades, played a bisque bogey competition yesterday, and the C grade a sealed handicap competition. Results were: A grade (handicaps 23 and under). —Mrs J. B. Curd (13), all square; Mrs J. French (5), 1 down; Mrs B. Clarke (14), 3 down; Mrs J. A. Free (16), Mrs 11. Bayley (17), Mrs J. T. Horne (17), 4 down. B grade (handicaps 24 to 36). —Mrs C. F. Wilkie (23), 6 up; Mrs Montgomery (20), 1 up; Mrs M. Thorburn (21), all square; Miss J. Gaustad (25), Miss N. Cotter (21), 2 down. C grade (scaled handicap competition, scaled holes Nos. 2 and 13. Over 13 holes) —Mrs A. Ward, 64—12—52; Mrs C. Kneebone 73 —18 —55 ; Miss U. Ballinger, 74—16—58; Mrs M. 11. Bell, 77—18 —59; Mrs E Astin 75—16—59.
