EX-SERVICEMEN’S CLUB.
The Imperial Ex-Servicemen’s Social Club held its monthly social and dance in the Orange Hall, there being a large attendance. An Irish jig and sailor’s hornpipe were performed by Miss eJan Holdsworth; the music for these items was played on the bagpipes by Mr Patterson. Enjoyable songs were rendered by Miss N. Penfold, and Mr A. Penfold, the accompaniste being Mr It. D. Armstrong. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Miss .T. Host and Mr J. Wasley. The president (Mr H. 11. Allison) thanked all who had assisted in making the evening enjoyable. In referring to the funds which had been secured for the minesweepers’ comforts, Mr Allison remarked that the entire profits of the previous function, which was a specially arranged event, in addition to the amount collected from the raffle, had resulted in a total of £lB 10s lOd. The results of these efforts were most gratifying, and much of the credit was. principally due to Mr G. Best (hon. secretary), who had organised and worked particularly hard. Mr It. D. Armstrong was M.C. and supper was served by the ladies’ committee—Mesdames S. Thomson, E. W. Thompson, G. Best, S. Sheldrake. F. Coleman, G. C. Moxham and It. D. Armstrong.
