U.S. FLEET TACTICS.
IMPORTANT CONFERENCE HELD. WASHINGTON, Oct. 7. Admiral J. Richardson (Commander-in-Chief of the Fleet; journeyed by plane from the coast to confer to-day with Colonel Knox (Secretary of the Navy), as a, result of which a decision regarding the disposition of the United States fleet is likely. Diplomats said tlje implementation of the entire Far Eastern policy may 'hinge on the outcome of the conference. They presume the discussions will cover a wide range of subjects bearing on the United States’s ability to maintain its position as a supporter of the status quo in the Far East, including possible joint use of the Singapore and Australian bases.
