ECONOMIC CONFERENCE.
COLLECTION OF EVIDENCE
(By Telegraph.—Special to Standard.) WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The conference called several weeiCß ago by tho Government for the purpose of considering, economic questions associated with New Zealand’s war effort, with a view to increasing production and stabilising prices and costs, will reassemble next week. After tlie general discussion of the situation when the conference opened, it -was decided to refer a number of questions to a representative committee for the purpose of taking evidence if deemed necessary. This committee, it is reported, has been meeting continuously and has taken a great deal of important evidence from representative- persons. It is understood its report is now in preparation and that it will be presented to tho main conference next week.
