THAILAND’S CLAIMS.
INDO-CHINA SITUATION.
LONDON, Oct. 5.
It is announced in Vichy that groups of 20 and 40 Thai planes have flown over the frontier of Indo-Cbina, and that the Thailand frontier forces are reinforced. These demonstrations arc not regarded seriously, and are probably intended to support Thailand’s territorial claims, to which France has replied that she does not intend to discuss a revision of the frontier, but is prepared to give Thailand access to the deep waters of the Mekong River. The Bangkok correspondent of the Domei (Japanese) News Agency states that the Thai Premier (Luang Bipul Songgram) declared that his Government was determined to pursue the quest for the disputed regions of IndoChina, but had no intention of resorting to arms. Hanoi reports that the Governor of Indo-China (Admiral Decoux) decorated the Japanese negotiator (MajorGeneral Nishihara) with the Order of the Dragon of Annam, with the rank of Grand Officer, before the envoy’s departure on a “pleasure trip” to southern Indo-China, where the IndoChinese and Thailand troops are massed on the border.
