WANGANUI PRESBYTERY

At a meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery, Rev. J. Hubbard brought forward on behalf of St. Andrew’s Church, Palmerston North, an application for permission to erect a Sunday school hall at West End. The property and financial committee were given power, to make recommendations regarding the plans and the financial arrangements.

A report on the arrangements for the meetings of the General Assembly to be held in Palmerston North on November 12 was given by Mr Hubbard. The following ministers were elected as voting members: Revs. A. C McLean, It. Warnock, L. K. Brown, 0. W. Watt and G. W. T. Hereus. It was reported that the missions committee had approved of the raising of the status of the Bulls congregation to that of an aided charge with a grant of £SO for the first year. It was agreed that the new status should date troni October 1 Rev. A. H. Nome reported on the annual statistics for the presbytery. Aggregate figures revealed increases in many directions, especially with regard to attendance at public worship and the prayer meetings. There had been an increase of £4133 in gross revenue. The report of the presbytery committee set up to review the work and the financial statements of home mission stations was presented by Rev. L H Ker The position in all stations was quite 'satisfactory. The ’home missionaries, Revs. H. McCallum. J. AY. Martin and G- L. Nummy, were due for transfer.
