PERSONAL.
At a meeting of the Wanganui Presbytery it- was unanimously agreed to nominate Rev.' John Davie, of Masterton, as Moderator of the General Assembly of tlie Church for 1941. Mr AV. F. Kent-Jolinston, of the Chief Post Office, Christchurch, lias been promoted to the office of chief clerk at Napier. Mr Kent-Jolinston has been in Christchurch for about six years and a half.
Mr H. A. Pope, now stationmaster at Putaruru, and until 1938 in charge of the booking office at the Palmerston North railway station, has been appointed stationmaster in charge at Picton. Mr G. C. Carnie, stationmaster at AA 7 anganui, and formerly stationmaster at Woodvillq, has been appointed goods agent at the Dunedin railway station.
Members of the local branch of the Social Security Department met recently to hid farewell to Mr A. G. Anderson, who has left the service of the department to join the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr Anderson is the third member of the Palmerston North staff to join the Air Force, the others being Messrs D. Mann and D. McPherson. Mr D. C. Donovan, Registrar of Social Security, congratulated Mr Anderson on his enlistment and on his selection as an airmangunner. On behalf of the staff he presented him with a set of hair brushes in' a leather case.
