PROSPECTS IMPROVE.
MENZIES GOVERNMENT. SYDNEY, Sept. 26. The latest development in the Federal elections is that good progress is being made by the Government candidates in the doubtful seats. The distribution of preferences is’favouring them in most of the 15 doubtful seats. It is now predicted that the Menzies Government will be returned with almost the same majority as in the last Parliament —42 to 32 —and a very slender majority of about three in the Senate.
