WARSHIP SUNK
ITALIAN ADMISSION. BASES BOMBARDED. (United Press Association—Copyright.) (Rec. 12 noon) ROME, Sept. 26. A communique announces: ‘‘A British submarine sank an Italian torpedo-boat destroyer in the lonian Sea. The majority of the crew were saved. “The British renewed their air bombardment of Tobruk (Cyrenaica). Some private buildings and a lield hospital were damaged. There are five dead and ten wounded. “British naval units shelled Sidi Barrani (where the Italian advance has halted). Italian planes attacked a convoy in the Red Sea. We bombed the defences of Otrub, in the Sudan.” A British naval communique issued at Cairo to-day states: Our naval forces again successfully attacked the Sidi Barrani area in the early hours of yesterday, and a large fire accompanied by a series of explosions was observed. The fire was still burning two hours later.
