WEST END
PROGRESSIVE ASSOCIATION. Various matters affecting the welfare of the district were discussed at a meeting of the West End Progressive Association last evening, Mr A. W. Just presiding. Also present were Mrs R Livingston (secretary), Mrs J. Kennedy and Messrs J. H. Dalziel and W. Schwabe. On t'he motion of Mr Dalziel, it was resolved that, if funds are sufficient, a Christmas party be held for the children of members. In connection with the membership drive Mr Schwabe donated 500 circulars and was accorded thanks. Mesdames Kennedy and Livingston were appointed official canvassers and organisers. Mr Schwabe stated that during the* lasL 12 months 223 houses, including the State dwellings, had beeri erected in the district. Among t'he new residents, he said,, there should be ample material for stimulating interest in the association- and the district. It was decided to ask Mr and Mrs T. P. Hart to -judge the garden competition in the coming season. Approval was given to a proposal that the trophy be presented shortly after the competition ends, at a social to bo arranged. A vote’of thanks was passed to Mr Just for a donation.
