At the annual meeting of the Pahiatua Lawn Tennis Club Mr W. H. Watson presided. A recommendation that the animal tournament, bo reviewed was referred to the management committee, which is also to decide upon throe courts to bo closed this season. Hegg; management committee, the president, secretary, treasurer, captain and Messrs R. J. Carruthers, R. Mills, 11. A. Gardner, Aliss G. Bisset, Airs A. D. Donald; grounds committee, Alessrs J. D. Thomson, FI. A. Gardner, J. G. Swainson, F. Johansen, R. Matthews, E. Pike; social committee, Alesdames Watson, Gardner and R. Alilis; iAlssos do Beer, Junker, J. Bisset and B. Boyd. The appointment of a delegate to the Alanawatu Association was left to the committee.

Valerie Phillips, aged nine, is the first child evacuated from London to be acconi medated for the duration of the war in the Pahiatua district. She is the daughter of A-Ir and Airs C. A. Phillips, of Westminster, who have sent her to this country to live with lior uncle and aunt, Air and Airs Alorley Phillips, of Masterton Road. She arrived here about ten days ago and goes to school in Pahiatua.
