LEAGUE OF MOTHERS.
AID FOR PARCELS FUND. Mrs A. C. McPherson presided over the monthly meeting of.tho Palmerston North League of Mothers yesterday afternoon. Items were given, by the, choir and by Mrs C. Grover (pianoforte solos), and Mrs H. Greenwood (songs, accompanied by Mrs AV. H. Loch). Mrs S. J. Parkes gave an interesting account of her travels in the East. Mrs Nieholls thanked the entertainers and Airs McPherson, the speaker. Afternoon tea was served by Airs Hoare and helpers. It was announced that a letter had been received from the secretary of the Patriotic AVomen’s Committee appealing for a:.; i stance with the Christmas parcels . for the overseas forces. It had been deckled to hold a social afternoon and members were asked to support this and bring their friends. A “bring and buy” afternoon for the same object will be held next month when a sponge sandwich competition for prizes donated bv Mesdames J. Barsanti and K. Ivoberstein will be held.
