WOMEN RACEGOERS.
VISITORS AT AWAPUNI.
After a most unpleasant morning the weather yesterday cleared towards mid-day and quite a number of people ventured forta to attend the Wanganui Jockey Club’s meeting at Awapuni. Those who dressed in warm tweeds and furs were, however, amply justified, as the sky again became overcast and the wind was cold in the afternoon. Consequently, not many spring ensembles made an appearance though there were occasional coats and suits in the new pastel shades, and light frocks were sometimes glimpsed beneath fur coats. Trim little hats, suitable for gusty .breezes, were the general choice, and there were several attractive spring models in felt or straw.
In addition to tho names published in the “Manawatu Standard” yesterday, those attending included Mrs Russell Grace, wife of the president, who entertained at afternoon tea wearing a black pnsemble with freesia corsage and black lelt hat with fluted wings. She was accompanied by her daughter, Mrs Young, in green flecked tweed and green felt toque. Also present from Wanganui worn Mesdames G. Currie, W. Peat, J. W. Anderson. J.
