HOKOWHITU BOWLING CLUB
The annual report of tho president of the liokowhitu Bowling Club slates that the green was in splendid order during the season and tho centre saw lit to use it for the pairs championships, the veterans’ championship, and also the New Year and Easter tournaments. Unfortunately, owing to the petrol restrictions, wo were forced to curtail our visits to outside clubs. The club was represented at the centre’s championship matches, and also in the New Year pairs and Easter rink tournaments, and although none of our entrants were up to winning standard, many close games were fought out. The following wero‘ the winners in the club championships:—Colts, 1,. Heat ley (S. Palmer runner-up); singles (Shand trophy), J. P. Stubbs (P. Horne); pairs, M. Bailey and J. Drury (S. Richardson and G. Hancock); rinks (O’Rcillv Cup), Drury, Long, AVoodroofc, Stubbs "(skip), (Knowles, Hancock, Horne, Dab!, skip); final holders of Body Buttons, Thomson, Lincoln, Heatlcy, Drury; Mum and -Dad Cup, Mr and Mrs Woodroofe. Tho financial position of the club is excellent, and at the end of the year we should show a handsome credit balance, as wc have no big schemes in view or heavy commitments to meet. We have lost from our committee during tho year two of our highly esteemed members, Air E. Swcctman and Air 11. Sboulcr. We regret losing such valuable committeemen. Air G. Hancock was elected to the committee in Air Swcctman.’s place and lie has proved a very valuable addition. Tho president thanks the committee, the ladies and donors of gifts to tho club. The green and gardens show promise of being in excellent condition in the coming season.
