FOXTON BEACH.

IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY. At a meeting 0 f (he Foxton Beach Improvement Society there were present Messrs M. E. Petr can (chairman), C. Penny, L. Andrews, G. Kenyon, G. Wells, G. AVatehorn, W. Ingram, J. Bald. A. Macpherson and the. secretary (Mr S. G. Rosvall). Correspondence was received from tho postmaster at Eoxton in answer to the society’s query as to tho curtailment of tho mail service, advising that mails are dispatched to the beach according to contract, onco daily, the afternoon mail being arranged gratis by the local office. Tho Palmerston North Caravan Club wrote stating the inability of members to be present at that day’s meeting and it was decided to arrange a date in the near future for the discussion of mattors of mutual interest. The lighting of streets and camping areas and tho necessity for additional water supplies was again discussed and tho secretary was instructed to write to the Harbour B6ard regarding these necessary measures. Messrs C. Penny and G. Kenyon were deputed to wait on the Harbour Board and to bring before it various mattors requiring _ attention. The report on sanitary planning in the reserves was received, from the Manawatu county engineer (Mr 11. V. Bond). It was decided to enquire into tile matter of tho substitution of the name Eoxton Beach in place of Manawatu Hoads as is listed in all directories, etc. Air Ingram extended thanks to the committee for the free use of the hall on the occasion of the gala night organised by him in aid of tho minesweopers’ comforts fund. Mr Ingram was accorded thanks for his patriotic gesture in working, together with Mrs Ingram, for this deserving c-auso.
