MONTHLY MEETING
The room at the Community Centro was tastefully decorated with bowls of hyacinths, blossom, and spring bul“’ for the monthly meeting of the Fending branch of the British Music Society. There was a good attendance ot members and apologies for absence were received from Mesdames G. Eliott, N. F. Short, C. Hausmann, A. L. Dixon, AV. A. Sandilands, and Misses B. Eliott and M. Hausmann. The 'hostesses were Mesdames M. Andrews and L. M. T. AVotton, and those responsible for the Slipper and arrangement of the room were Mesdames AVingram, AAood, D. B. Rowe, A. AV. Taylor, and Miss AVhiteliead. The programme was as follows; Vocal solos, “The Lute Player, “I Travel the Road,” Mr S. Johnson; pianoforte solo. “Prelude in G Minor.’ Mrs AVhitehead: cornet solos. “Softly Awakes” and “ Because,” Mr E. Fleetwood ; vocal solos, “Melisande in the AVood” and “Largo,” Miss E. Berkahn ; pianoforte solos, “Romance and “Devotion,” Miss G. Humphreys; vocal solos, “I Triumph” and “0 Pure and Tender Star of Eve,” Mr N. Shortall; musical monologue, “Tilings Not True,” Mrs D. 13. Rowe. _A musical competition was also supplied by Mrs Rowe.
