The Minister of Finance announces that the Lighter Aeroplane Gilt Fund is being exempted from the i'atriouc Fund Regulations so long as the iunds are collected before September 60. All collecting organisations must obtain the consent of the Minister o! Finance To enable all parts of New Zealand to be adequately represented in the gift, the Government lias decided to provide for collections in all the provincial patriotic districts, namely Auckland, East Coast. Hawke’s Bay, Taranaki, Wellington: Marlborough, Nelson, Canterbury, Otago, Southland and Westland. The United Kingdom Government is being asked to name the planes purchased after the districts where the funds are collected. Mr Nash adds: “In view of our commitments overseas, tho gift to the British Government, which it is understood will be. sufficient to provide sixteen lighter aeroplanes, must be limited to £IOO,OOO. The provision of these funds will not increase the supply of these planes, as the factories are working to capacity, but will indicate the appreciation of the Dominion of the outstanding achievements of the R.A.F.” . . -
