BRITISH CHILDREN
APPROVAL OF HOMES. CITY AND DISTRICT. In the Palmerston North and surrounding districts 126 homes have been approved for the reception of British children under the Empire scheme and, should the occasion arise, a total of Tsl children could immediately be absorbed in this district.
; Following the initial meeting of the Zone Committee the organisation of the scheme in its local application has gone forward The Zone Com:inittee outlined the broad principles, I and in the city area, boroughs and counties, sub-committees appointed representatives with particular knowledge for the purpose to approve homes regarded as the most suitable. With the exception of the Manawatu County the figures for the various areas have .now been collected and are being sent on to the authorities at Wellington.
