ANTI-BRITISH RALLY.
TOKIO DEMONSTRATION. TOKIO, Aug. 12. The police almost . outnumbered the demonstrators at the widely-heralded anti-British rally at Hihya Hall. Previous announcements that the demonstrators would visit the British Embassy failed to materialise. AntiBritish and pro-Axis resolutions were adopted, after which thg demonstrators dispersed. The Foreign Office spokesman (Mr Y. Suma) said the Government at present was not planning further requests to belligerents to follow Britain’s garrison withdrawals. He said Japan was assuming the responsibility lor the maintenance of peace and order in the occupied areas of China and in view of this foreign forces were unnecessary.
