EXAGGERATED REFERENCES.

(British Official Wireless.) Received August 13, 9.45 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 12. The War Office states: “Reports appearing in some foreign newspapers exaggerate the effAit of the recent nilraids on Gibraltar. The truth is the damage has been negligible and the casualties slight. “Gibraltar is prepared for any eventualties and has ample resources of all kinds to meet them.” An earlier message from Leipzig stated: The radio announces that Gibraltar is preparing for a- siege. The military authorities, it said, have demolished several houses to facilitate the defence, and two big transports have entered the harbour with war materials and food.

An Australian broadcasting station last evening announced that advice had bean received in America to the effect that Spain was considering entering the war on 'the side of the Axis Powers.
