SPANISH NOTE.
CONTRABAND CONTROL. (British Official Wireless.) Received August 13, 9.25 a.m. RUGBY, Aug. 12. The Spanish Ambassador in London (the Duke of Alba) called on the Permanent Under-Secretary to the 1* oreign. Office (Sir Alexander Cadogan) at the end of last week and delivered a Note drawing attention to the recent British measures of contraband control and generallv reserving the right of the Spanish Government in connection with them. , . The Madrid radio states that the British control of shipping is tantamount to a blockade of Spain, causing many hardships to Spaniards, who realise who is the enemy and are therefore displaying antipathy toward Britain.
