THE NATIONAL REGISTER.
ADDRESSES OF RESERVISTS. It is important (and it is also compulsory under the regulations) that reservists of the Firet Division of the General Reserve should keep the Director of National Service, Wellington, advised of their residential addresses and any change iu this respect is required to be notified (by registered letter) within seven days. Forms for the purpose may be obtained at any post office. When reservists are drawn in a ballot their names are published- in the New Zealand Gazette and this no : tice is, in itself, sufficient to effect the transfer of the men concerned from the reserve to the armed forces. It is, of course, realised that many people in the Dominion cannot conveniently obtain access to the Gazette, and, therefore, it is proposed to give individual notice by registered letter. It will be 6een, then, that if any reservist has failed to keep the director advised if he has changed his place of abode, his postal notification may not reach him and he will not only be likable to the penalties provided by tho regulations but he may also subsequently become iiablo to a charge of desertion.
