(From Our Own Correspondent.) SANSON, Aug. 10.

The monthly meeting of the Sanson Women’s Institute was presided over by Mrs W. E. Pearce. It was decided that the institute send a Christmas paroel to each of the local soldiers who are overseas. Miss Vereta Butler was proposed as a member Mrs Pearce extended a hearty welcome to Mrs Simpson, who until recently has been a member of the Makino Institute. Mrs Simpson has now come to Sanson to live and will be a. member of the local institute. Mrs Simpson gave a very interesting demonstration of crayon embroidery. The demonstrator for next month will be Miss Ralfe, of Bulls. The monthly competition for the best bloom was won by Mrs Coulter 1, Mrs Drew 2, Mrs Eglinton 3; hot-water bottle cover. Mrs Fagan, Mrs Drew 2. The competition for next month will be for knitted mittens. A vote of thanks was extended to the hostesses, Mesdames York, Coulter, and Roberts. Next month, Mesdames Richardson. Eglinton, and Adams will be the hostesses.

Miss L. Lumsden is visiting her brother at Papakura. Miss M. Smart .of Raumai, is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs G. Drew’. A dance is to be held in the Sanson Hall on Wednesday evening to help with the comforts for the men of a minesweeper in the North Sea, which the institute has undertaken to outfit. There are 22 men on one minesweeper for whom pullovers, seaboots, stockings, balaclavas, mittens, and scarves are being supplied.
