ARMY NURSING.

POST FOR MISS NUTSEY. MATRON-IN-CHIEF OVERSEAS. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Aug. 12. The appointment of Miss E. M. Nutsey, woman superintendent of the Auckland Hospital, to the post of matron-in-chief of the New Zealand Army Nursing Service overseas was announced in advice received by the Hospital Board to-night from the Director-General of Health (Dr Watt). Aliss Nutsey is one of the best-known administrators of the nursing profession in the Dominion. Quoting instructions received from Army Headquarters, Dr Watt said Miss Nutsey’s services would he required from the end of October. He requested the hoard to make arrangements for her to be released from the hospital to take up duty with the Army as required. Aliss Nutsey has been woman superintendent of the Auckland Hospital since 1928. She was trained at Auckland, and, leaving the Dominion in 1915' with tho first contingent of nurses for active service, she had four and a-half years of service abroad. She was mentioned in despatches for bravery in 1916, and was also awarded tho decoration of Associate of the Royal Red Cross in England. On returning to New Zealand, Aliss Nutsey acted as matron of the Opotiki Cottage Hospital for a few months, later joining the Department of' School Hygiene as school nurse. After serving two years in this capacity she went to South Africa, where she was engaged in surgical nursing for two years. -- Soon after her return to the Dominion Aliss Nutsey was appointed matron of the Stratford Hospital, and later took up a similar position at the Hawera Hospital, before being selected in 1928 for her present post as woman superintendent at Auckland. Aliss Nutsey has directed nursing services and the training of nurses in one of the largest hospitals in the Southern Hemisphere. Her work was recognised in 1937, when the A1.8.E. was conferred upon her in the Coronation honours list. She is also a member of the New Zealand Nurses’ and Alidwives’ Registration Board,
