HARRIER CLUB
WEBB SHIELD RACE. Tlio Feilding Harrier Club held a race on Saturday afternoon in connection with the competition for the A. Webb Shield. The winner was J. Duncan who made In's first appearance since he suffered an injury to his ankle. There were four competitors in the junior event, which commenced at Denbigh Square. R. Evans secured second place, while fastest time went to G. Whittaker, who failed to break his own record by 2jscc. Particularly good time was made by L. Rayner, who secured second fastest time and bettered his previous best time by lmin. Bsec. Details are: J. Duncan (4min.), 24.4 L 1; R. Evans (7), 28.10, 2; L. Rayner (2), 24.25, 3; G. Whittaker (scr.), 22.38, 4. A field of three runners took part in the senior event of 10 miles involving two circuits of the Makino Block. The winner was R Lamberton, who also annexed fastest time honours. Details: R. Lamberton lhr. 7min 9sec., 1: 11. Moss, 1-15-9, 2; E. Batten, 1-13-44 3.
The second annual relay race of approximately 19 miles between the Marton and Feilding Clubs will comprise teams of five and will start from Manchester Square and finish at the Marton Post Office.
