YOUNG FARMERS
DEBATING CONTEST. MARTON BEAT BULLS. The Alar to n Young Farmers 1 Club beat the Bulls club iu the debating competition which has been in progress since June in the final of the southern zone. The first round had resulted in wins lor these clubs over Westmere and Hunterville, respectively. The teams for the contest, which was held in Marton, were,—Marton: Air M. Alorrison (leader), and Messrs .W. Gray and F. Smith. Bulls: Air F. Thorby (leader), and Messrs C. B. Harrison and S. H. Last-Harris. The subject, .“Alixed Farming v. Specialised Farming,” offered ample scope for interesting discussions, and the judge "(Air J. Caithness) awarded the decision in favour of the Alarton team, who sponsored mixed farming. The final of the district competition, in which the Alangaweka team, winner of the northern zone, will compete against Marton, will take place this month. «
