(From Our Own Correspondent.) LINTON. Aug. 8.

At the residence of Mrs D. C'urrin several members of the Women's Institute took the opportunity of bidding farewell to .Mrs Waterson, an enthusiastic member, who has left the district to reside in Palmerston North with her daughters while Mr Waterson is in camp. The time was spent in playing whist, which was won by Mrs Ballinger, and the .consolation prize went to Mrs Waterson. Mrs Lynch expressed the regret felt by the institute at losing Mrs Waterson as a member, and also one of the committee, and asked her to accept a book entitled “Pioneer Women,” with best wishes. Mrs Waterson thanked the members and also Mrs Currin for such an enjoyable afternoon. . ; Prior to her marriage. Miss N'gaire Lynch (now Mrs J. Irvine) was given a gift party at the residence of her aunt. Mrs ,T. Lynch. Several of her friends gathered together and the time was spent in amusing games and competitions. Mrs J. L. Nash, on behalf of those present, .asked Miss Lynch to accept a beautiful array of gifts with the best wishes for her future happiness. The wedding took place on Tuesday. Mr and Mrs J. Irvine will make their future home in Linton. Mrs Cadogan is the guest of Mrs .T. Lynch. Mr and Mrs M. Rix are on holiday in the north. Mrs D.'Craw has returned homo from hospital.
