At the monthly meeting of All Saints Ladies’ Guild the hostesses were Mesdaines R. Bryant, E. Bryant, L. C. Bryant, S. R. Austin, G. F. Smith, T. East, A. Nicholls and K. Conlan. Correspondence was read from the St. Barnabas Children’s Home, Wellington, soliciting donations, owing to a shortage of funds, ft was decided to forward a donation. Vocal solos were contributed by Airs If. A. Hannay and by Airs S. IV. Barber; the accompaniments were played by Airs R. N. Spoil's. Competitions resulted: Wall competition, Airs I>. R. Barron; kitchen, Airs S. F„ Cowley; big shot, Airs E. Bryant; candle lighting, Airs T. V. Crotty.

At a meeting of the Fox ton Surf and Life Saving Club the secretary (Air M. Doyle) presented a financial statement in connection with the annual ball. The proceeds from the dance were in aid of the Patriotic Fund and the statement revealed a credit balance of £4 15s. It was decided to bring the amount up to £5 and to hand it to the Patriotic Committee. A vote of thanks was accorded Airs Fuller and her committee, comprising Alesdamcs T. Fuller, A. J. Devonshire, C. McCarthy, J. S. Shortbouso, W. D. Neville and T. Ohaffey, also Messrs Richardson and Devonshire. Foxton’s first batch of five State houses are now ready for occupation. The members of the Patriotic Bridge Club spent an enjoyable time at the residence of Air and Mrs A. V. Taylor, of Park Street, on Tuesday. The monthly meeting of the Foxton District High School Committee was hold on Monday and was presided over by Air H. A. Hannay. Also present were AJossrs W. D. Neville, E. Titcombc, L. Bo water, H. Podmore, D. McKenzie, A. Y. Taylor and the secretary (Air IS. Corlctt). A letter from Air G. O. Barber complaining of tbc delay in transport of the children to their homes on August 1 owing to a breakdown of the bus was received. The headmaster (Afr N. H. TunniclilT) reported that the secondary school roll remained unchanged, but that the primary department now lias 387 pupils.
