MEAL EXPORT.
Per Frees Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 8. The machinery for the investigation of moat exporters’ accounts, in accordance with a decision announced in Parliament some weeks ago, is set out in the iVleat Exporters’ Accounts Emergency Retrulations 1940 contained in the Gazette. The purpose of the investigation is' to enable the Minister of Marketing to determine whether the not returns received by the farmers and other suppliers of live stock intended for the production of meat for export, and the charges for tho services rendered in connection with such stock or meat before its acceptance by the Mnrkct- . ing Department, are fair and reasonable. In no case shall any investigation bo concerned with the accounts of any meat cx.porter for any period earlier than _ three years immediately before the operation of the Marketing Order 1939.
The best prices for fat sheep for over three years were paid at the Frankton stock sale this week. Top quality wethers showed a rise of 6s a head on last week’s values, and other classes showed similar improvement. A number of pens made over 40s, selling readily to 435, against the top price of 37s last week. F.wes were also keenly sought, realising up to 325, a rise of 3s 6d on last weeks values.
