NEW BUTTER MARKETS.

INDIA AND AMERICA’. Indications arc given in advices re- j reived by the, Awuhuri: Dairy': Com- . panv that the Marketing Department is endeavouring to spread the export ,• of New Zealand butter to other parts of the world than the main market, Great Britain. One such notification came in a letter received from Tripura State, North-East India, and advice sheets from the Marketing De- < partment show that specially putted ■ consignments have been forwarded to New York and to Jamaica. The letter from Tripura .State, written by Mrs N. J. Eade, of the New Zealand Baptist Missionary Society, who arrived in Eeilding this week, ■ on furlough with her husband, is as follows “For the past two months, my husband and I have been purchasing the butter that comes from your factory. You cannot imagine what a boon it is to get New Zealand butter in this land, but when that butter comes from one’s own district, it, is quite a joy. My husband and J were both horn and brought up in Fcilding. My grandfather (the late Thomas Gifford) farmed for many years in the Carnarvon district, and we therefore know the Awahuri Dairy Company well. 1 thought it might interest you to know that your butter has penetrated as far as North-East India, into the only independent Indian State which does not pay tribute to .the British Raj and also that it is appreciated by New Zealanders.”
