EVACUATION OF SHEEP. MOVING 100,000 ROMNEYS. • LONDON, June 21. The evacuation of sheep from arous regarded as “vulnerable in the case of enemy action” has begun. Tho biggest movement is the transfer of 100.000 sheep from the Romney Marshes to pasture land in many districts in the Home Counties. All the ewes and )amb3 aro being moved in lorries. “One of our greatest problems,” a member of the County Agricultural Committee said, “is to ensuro that each mother will arrive at her new home with her own lamb. The utmost care is, therefore, being taken to prevent tho ewes being separated from their young. “Tho transfer of so many sheep from the salty marshes to quite different pasture land, is an experiment, but we believe it will work out‘satisfactorily. It is usual to send sheep away, from the marshes in the winter. This does them no harm. So it is assumed it will be quite safe to send them away in the summer.
