DISPENSING WORK.

PUBLIC CO-OPERATION SOUGHT. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Aug. 5. Because of enlistments in the Armed Forces by qualified chemists and pharmacy assistants, difficulty is being experienced in some cases, in coping with dispensing work at rush hours. This is disclosed in a report received by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Hon. D. G. Sullivan) from the Pharmacy Plan Industrial Committee, which asks' for the co-operation of the public by leaving prescriptions to be made up as early in the day as possible. The report of the committee rends in part: “A good number of qualified chemists and pharmacy.'assistants having enlisted for active service, the task of coping with dispensing work at rush hours is becoming a real difficulty. In some places it is customary to dispense prescriptions in the order received over tho counter, hut it may soon be necessary for a chemist to exercise some discretion as to which prescriptions, in his opinion, call for prior attention. . “The public could assist b.v leaving prescriptions as early as possible, particularly where it is a case of repeating a prescription already dispensed. If = people would ring their chemist and notify him of their intention to call, sav, on tho following day, it Mould give the chemist an opportunity to spread the -work over the slack periods.” Mr Sullivan said he felt sure it was only necessary to draw attention to the committee’s statement to secure the ready co-operation of the public.
