ARRESTED ALIENS.

NOT FOREIGN AGENTS. Received August 3, 12.30 p.m. WASHINGTON, Aug. 2. The War Department states that the Secretary for War (Mr H. L. Stimson) referred erroneously to the 81 arrested aliens in the Canal Zone as foreign agents, whereas in reality they were refugees granted temporary haven several months ago by the Panama Government. It is explained that the error was due to faulty transmission. See “Arrests at Panama.”—Page 7.
