GIRL GUIDES.

The monthly meeting of the Palmerston North Girl Guides Association was held yesterday, Mrs G. A. Eliott (District Commissioner) presiding. Mrs Eliott welcomed Mrs Aiken to the committee as representing the Hokowhitu Brownie Pack. It was resolved to ask that, if possible, the account of the presentation, of the two air ambulances and lifeboat from the Guides of the world to the British War Ministry be re-broadcast in order that more Guides and Brownies might know about it. Gratification was expressed that Miss J. Galvin bad consented to examine for ‘‘keep fit” badges. Tentative arrangements were made for the running of the patriotic shop. The Commissioner reported that Misses Margaret Wilson and P. Hughes were helping Miss R. Jensen with St. Andrew’s Company, and that Miss C. M. Gillies had taken charge of All Saints’ Ranger Company. November 2 was suggested as a. tentative date for the shield corripetitions, the programme to be drawn up by Mrs Eliott, Miss M. Poole and Mr L. Callis. Mrs Eliott reported that Mrs Wallace Cook was giving lectures on first aid to the Guiders for finst-elass. Mrs Eliott reported hav-

ing visited the St. Andrew’s Company where thirteen Guides had been enrolled and prospects were very bright for a good company. She had also visited Feilding with Miss Jensen to carry out second-class tests. A further donal.tion of £3 3s from Mrs Eliott from 'the “Mitzy” fund was gratefully acknowledged.
