The weather has held a prominent place among topics of conversation in Woodville during the past week. Since the early part of the week there has heen a total absence of frosts, and the days have been characterised by clear skies and warm sunshine —quite unusual for this time of the year. Knocked over in a collision with a motor car driven by Mr C. Squires, of Range Road, Woodville, in the vicinity of the Foresters’ Hall last night, Mr E. H- Giles, of Vogel Street, Woodville, suffered slight leg injuries which necessitated his entering the Dannevirke Hospital for treatment. It was learned on inquiry this morning that his condition was satisfactory. At the Foresters’ euchre tournament the winner was Mr H. McNeil, with Mrs Hayes second. Miss Watts gained third place after a play-off with Mr C. Wa.ro. The annual quadrangular basketball tournament, between Hutt Val’ev High School. Wairarapa College, Wellington Fast Girls’ College, and Dannevirke High School, plavcd yesterday at Dannevirke, was won by 'Wellington East. In the first round Wellington East beat Hutt. Valley 25-12. and Dannevirke beat Wairarapa 18-13. In the loser v. loser match Hutt Valley beat Wairarapa 19-12. Wellington- East heat Dannevirke 24-15 in a brilliant final. The standard of play throughout the tournament was particularly high.
