FOXTON.
A first-aid competition was held between the Levin and Foxton branches of the St. John Ambulance Association fot a challenge cup given by the local branch for competition between the two. The Foxton branch has been in existence ’< short time only, and it was the first occasion on which the trophy hud been competed for. Levin won the cup by 45 points to 44L The competition comprised 6tretcher drill and treatment of an accident case, in which the tutors showed a slight superiority. Foxton more than held their own in the individual tests. The judge was Dr. A, Platts-Mills and the teams were: Foxton, Messrs C. Anderson. E. Joyce, A. Harvey and D. Rickorby; Levin, Sergeant Williams, Messrs Hewson and Hughes (2). In addition to the competition, a demonstration was given of the Thomas splint, used in cases of fractures of the lower limbs, by the Levin squad, and a demonstration of an ambulance kit and its contents by Mr AY E. Hale. Supper was arranged by Mcsdamcs G. Tucker and F. Gay and Miss R. Tucker. The Mayor (Mr M, E. Perreau) before presenting the cup, congratulated both teams. He presented Mr \y. E. Hale, president of the jocal association, with a warrant of appointment as an ambulance officer. Mr Jenkins spoke on behalf of the visitors and Dr. PlattsMills praised the work ot the St. John •Ambulance Association.
