RANGITIKEI COMPANY.

RESTORATION OF FACTORY.

The annual report of the Rangitikci Coop. Dairy Coy. states:—Tho output for the season was 881 tons, an increase of 45 tons on the previous year. This is the result of a good autumn, in spite of a poor spring. The average grade of our butter at Wanganui for tnc past season was 94.654. The company suffered a very serious loss, having the factory destroyed by fiye. Almost before the fire had died down all our neighbouring companies very kindly offered their help hi dealing with our supply, and satisfactory arrangements were made with tho Rata and Rongotta companies, our supply being handled without inconvenience to suppliers. The new buildings will bo ready for use in a few weeks, and the thanks of the shareholders are due to Air Green, factory manager, for the way ho has attended to the purchase of the new plant and lay-out of the new factory. “As steadily increasing .charges, due to short hours, high- wages, and unnecessary expenditure pile up costs against dairy farmers, who are left with tho same price for their produce (even that sold locally) as when charges were much lower, it becomes, necessary for farmers, many of whom work 60-70 hours a week during tho season, to increase production. During tho year the company purchased the land where the pig farm stands, and is now in a sound position regarding tho disposal of buttermilk and washing powder. “In respect of tho previous year, tlio estimated season average payout of butterfat (all grades) which was quoted in the report for that year, and the actual season average payout which was finally made, was 16.313 d. In respect of tho current year, the stocks of butter on hand at balance date have been taken into account at regulation wholesale price. There was no export butter on hand. There is a surplus of £14,228 for disposal, and your directors recommended that a further payment of 2 l-16d per pound of butter .fat bo made to all suppliers holding their full quota of shares in tho company, and that a dividend of 5 per cent, be declared on paidup capital. Tho further payment absorbs £13.975, and the dividend £l6O, leaving £93 to be carried forward. Tho estimated season average payment per pound of butterfat (all grades) which shou’d result from tho disposal of unsold dairy produce at the values adopted is Is 3.985 d. Tho thanks of shareholders are due to the staff for the satisfactory manner in which they have carried out their duties. The store continues to be a useful branch of our business. The retiring directors, Messrs K. \V. Dalrymplo and W. Purcell, have been returned unopposed.
