DISPERSAL SALE. Dalgety and Company, Ltd., in conjunction with Wrignt, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report having conducted a highly successful dispersal sale on behalf ot Mr A. L. Wheeler, at the Palmerston North Showgrounds on Thursday, June 13. The attendance was a very large one, the sale ring being completely filled, and buyers were present from North Auckland to Southland the sule going with a swing from start to finish and tne sheep being evenly distributed throughout both islands.. Despite the consistent ruins of recent weeks, the sheep came forward in excellent order and condition and their sale appearance was most favourably commented On. This :is only what could have been expected, as Air Wheeler’s activities with hisj" famous Leedstown Romney Marsh flock is a household word throughout the Southern Hemisphere. Although Mr Wheeler has not been so active with his Southdowns, in the past two years that he has been exhibiting his Southdowns at New Zealand Shows his su -cess has been so marked that it was only natural that leading New Zealand breeders shoud attend in force and expect the sheep to be presented in the manner in which they were. However, both Air Wheeler and his shepherd are to be congratulated on this sale. The auction opened with the two-shear ewes, which averaged £ls 10s 4d, with the top price of 28 guineas. The one-shear ewes averaged £9 10s 4d, with 17£ guineas top price, and the three-shear ewes averaged £l6 2s lid, with 65 guineas as top price, this ewe being purchased by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., as agents, another ewe making 42j guineas, and purchased by D. Robertson (Kelso) while H. J. Andrew' (Alaheno) paid 36 guineas for another. The four-year ewes averaged £ll 6s 4d and in this ag-e the top price ewe of the sale was sold It) G. Fawkes at 90 guineas. The five-year ewes averaged £lO 3s 2d, with top prices 32i guineas, anil 27i guineas, and the aged ewes averaged £ll 2s 3d, with 35 guineas, top price. The ewe hoggets averaged £5 5s 2d, H. J. Andrew (Maheno), taking the top price hogget at 18 guineas and Dalgety and Co., Ltd., on account of A. O. Greenwood (Southbridge). paying 14 guineas for another. The average for •lie females was £lO 12s. The head of (lie flock Ford Christian 110-35 went to the bid of A. W. Pannctt (Clinton, Otago) for 85 guineas and Ford Christian 32-38 was purchased by Wright, Stephenson arid Co., as agents, for 56 guineas; and the Leedstown bred ram, 324-38 went to the call of L. Purdie (Te Kuiti) at 55 guineas. The stud ram hoggets averaged £24 13s Id, Allen Grant (Waimate) securing the top price ram hogget at 82g guineas, other ram hoggets selling well at 65. 50, 42L 40, 37g, 32). and 32 guineas. Flock rain hoggets averaged £4 12s lid, with one pen soiling up to guineas. The average for the stud males was ■ £29 4s 4d and the general average of all stud sheep sold was £l2 16s- fid.
