The Frencn evening communique states: “On both sides of Paris the battle increases in violence. West of the capital new forces attacked south of Eouen. Mechanised and armoured columns began to enlarge the bridgeheads of Louviers, Les Andeleys, and Yernon in the direction of Pacy-sur-Eure and Evereux. Dreux and Evereux were bombarded. One enemy airman machine-gunned a column of refugees. “North of Paris at least twelve divisions are attaching between Seulis and Betz. East of the capital the battle is even more violent than on the previous days. Enemy armoured divisions have crossed the Marne at Chateau Thierry _ and Dormans in the direction of Mont Miral, while other divisions passing east of Itheims are pushing in the direction of Chalons-sur-Mame. The forces that the enemy have, thrown into the Battle can be estimated at more than 100 divisions. Despite their numerical inferiority our armies continue to fight magnificently.’ ’
