GERMAN PLEDGES.
MR ROOSEVELT DISBELIEVES. Received June 15, 9.20 a.m. WASHINGTON, June 14. . President Roosevelt cited the record of the Germans’ broken pledges to other nations as discounting reports quoting Hitler as saying he has no aspirations in the Western Hemisphere. Such reports were contained in an interview by. an American journalist, Mr von Wiegand, with Hitler.. Mr Roosevelt permitted the direct quotation of his reply to a 'question concerning Hitler’s statement. That brings up recollections,” he said, inat should be sufficient comment.’ The President added that it could be expanded upon indefinitely with references to specific dates and nations. Mexico City reports that the German Press Attache (Dr. Dietrich) has been officially termed persona non grata, and his recall has been requested.
