HORSE COMPETITIONS.

- FOAM WINS HUNTERS’ CUP. The judge of the horse competitions, Mr Howard Booth (Carterton) said the jumping had been exceptionally good. There "had 'been very lew ref usals and only one fall. The competitors had been fortunate in having the ground in first-class order for jumping. This always assisted a judge very much in arriving at a fair decision, a bad ground very often upset the better class of horse, more so than the poor one. The best jumping, as often happened, had been seen in the lady’s hunters’ competition. It was a strange thing, but true nevertheless, that the best horses appeared to jump still better when ridden by ladies. In this particular competition yesterday the first three horses all scored an equal number, of points, and he finally made his decision on manners and the best pace suited for a lady’s hunter. Results were as follow: Maiden jumpers’ competition (for horses' that had not previously won/ at anv A. and P. Show). —Mrs E. IT. Duncan’s (Iluntcrville) entry 1, Iv.
